Game Brief 1
This game will be an action game with jumping over a lot of obstacles and will be set in a 2D environment where you will have to jump over crumbling obstacles and fight past the wolves NPC. In my Ice age Eskimo game the ideas i collected from to make the idea for my 2D game is icy towers and Final Fantasy snowboarding scene and the end of the world film 2012. For my game genre since it is a action based game and i have chosen 2 action games to get my ideas off Tarzan and Hercules.
Image Descriptions Overview
In these images i chose for my game because it helps the idea for my 2D action game. I'm using the Icy towers game for my idea of jumping from obstacle to obstacle. The idea from Final Fantasy 7 snowboarding scene i wanted to use as another jumping idea to jump and avoid the enemies and obstacles. The film i wanted to use as a reference is 2012 as it shows in these pictures that the world is being engulfed in a massive tiddlewave as I want to show in my game as it engulfs and destroys the ice blocks for you to stand a cross over. Since this is an action game i wanted to show two very popular old Disney games that is both 2D and an action type game. Hercules and Tarzan is the type of style that I would like to use for my 2D action game as it is a very nice art style and a fun camera change when moving from one location to the other.
Icy towers: is a 2D platform game where you jump from platform to the next as time runs out and you can not go back as the camera is locked onto where you are. The artistic style in this game is what drove me to look at this game as it shows a ray of colours along with structural layout as the background works very well with foreground.
Final fantasy 7: snow boarding challenge: This little mini game allows you to snow board in a snowy plane to get to your destination, the reason why I chose this is because of the theme of my game being of snow, ice and icy sea water and this mini game shows the mountainous background as well as wonderful trees that works rather nicely with the layout of the game as I want for my game.
Disney Tarzan:
Tarzan is a 3D adventure game about a man who lives in the wild (monkeys) and must protect his family from outside threats whilst learning who he really is. The reason as to why I chose this game is because of the collectables you can collect as I want my collectables to appear in the same way as the coins such as floating in mid air.
Disney Hercules:
Hercules is one of the top reasons as to why I chose to my my game the way I want it to be as this game shows many wonderful attributes such as the artistic cartoon style, the way he interacts with the objects, the way he can turn a corner at a certain area, the animations of the objects as they collide with the character getting close and what I loved even more was the background as no matter where you go you get to see wonderful 3D elements and 2D elements all over the background with wonderful lighting.
Day after tomorrow:
The reason as to why I chose this film is because I liked the tsunami and the frozen areas of the film as it was shown quite well. This film is about nothing else but survival as people huddle around one another to survive or have to brave the dangers of the land as you would brave the onslaught of the wolves, broken frozen ice caps and even the harsh weather itself.
Game Brief 2
In my game Brief 3 i am making a 3D game which is a puzzle adventure game which is about time travel. In my game the ideas i have chosen are Final fantasy 13-2, The end of Final fantasy 8 for my idea along with the matrix film for my idea aswell. The 3D time travel game that i am making is a puzzle adventure so i will use both tomb raider and the legacy of kain series as my source of insperation.
Image Descriptions Overview
These pictures are from 2 of the final fantasy series called final fantasy 13-2 and Final Fantasy 8. The first picture is from final fantasy 13-2 where a lot of the construction is moving about just like the staircase in the Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series. The next two pictures are from Final Fantasy 8 which is a ruined orphanage which i plan to make for my ruined 3D game and the gateway and the big chain i wanted to represent things that are floating in the air or suspended by time which wouldn't really happen in normal circumstances.
legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver: I chose the game level as reference because I liked the ruined city and medieval church look that would suite my game level very nicely. I also chose this game because it has barriers with other worldly writing on it as that can work nicely for my glyph room and for certain areas that are more magical.
Tomb Raider: I chose the level design of tomb raider because it has statues of gods that works well for my game as it represents what is going on to the deselete future.
Final Fantasy 13-2: The reason why I chose Final Fantasy 13-2 is because of the level layout such as the stairs are all over the place and move out of place (such as the staircase in harry potter).
Final Fantasy 8:
Here in Final Fantasy 8 there are doors on the side of the characters that will instantly transport them to another location, the reason as to why I wanted this in my 3D time travel game is because I wanted these door to make the main character to go back a few levels as to force them to get back where they were before. I also chose the broken down house as another reference as to what the building may look like and how run down they are
Matrix:
Since my game is all about the distortion of time and how everything is aflux I wanted to have this picture as a reference as to what may transpire within the level as most statues may be broken up into small pieces and floating in a singular spot or maybe the character may get caught in something and will have to try and get out of that time vacuum.
